- Do not take aspirin or anti-inflammatory medications like Aspirin, Motrin, Advil or Voltarin, lbuprofen for 7 days prior to surgery. These medications could thin the blood and cause bleeding during surgery. (See list of additional medications to be avoided before surgery, at the end of the instructions.) Also if you take herbal supports, stop all herbs 1-4 days before surgery. ( Herbs i.e. Ginko Bitoba causes increased bleeding.)
- Do not drink alcohol for seven days prior to surgery. Alcohol can thin the blood and cause the procedure to be more difficult.
- lf you smoke cigarettes, we advise you to stop smoking at least one week prior to your scheduled surgery. Many studies have shown that cigarette smoking impedes wound healing. ln order to ensure best healing and survival of the transplanted hair, we suggest that our patients should not smoke.
- Do not take Vitamin E or B-complex vitamins for seven days prior to surgery. These vitamins can thin the blood slightly and cause the procedure to be more difficult.
- lf you are on any medication, please inform your doctor and he will tell you if you need to stop it or not.
- lf you are on anti-hairloss medication such as minoxidil, stop using it 3 weeks before the surgery. lf you take finasteride daily, you can keep on taking finasteride tablets during the surgery period.
- Please bring some tests, done in past 6-month period, such as HBsAg, HCVab, HlVab, PTZ and Bleeding Time.
- To evaluate the area that will be transplanted more effectively, please avoid to have your hair cut before coming to hair transplantation.
- You must have breakfast on the day of surgery and drink plenty of fluids. This will prevent dizziness and nausea.
- lt will be adventageous to bring a seasonal hat to wear after the surgery.
